Gluten is the protein found in wheat and for celiac disease sufferers, this means that they have to avoid food such as grains, pasta, cereals and possibly processed food because they may contain grains such as barley, rye or wheat.

While it is painful to avoid these foods, it is crucial to avoid gluten for health’s sake because even the slightest amount can trigger an immune system reaction that is damaging to your small intestine.

Not sure if you have celiac disease? Symptoms include persistent constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, irritable bowel system (IBS), nausea or vomiting after consuming food products that contain gluten (food products as mentioned above).

We can recommend sample meals that are free from gluten and “hidden gluten” which you may not be able to pick up on your own unless you are very well-versed in product label reading.
