When a teleconsult is not right
Call 995 or go to the nearest A&E for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, sudden weakness or confusion, or a serious injury. If the doctor feels you need to be examined in person, they will ask you to visit us at 79 Serangoon Garden Way.

Dr Namthep Sachathep (Dr Nam)
Teleconsultations are run by Dr Nam, Clinical Director of Ashford Medical Centre. He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2011 and has worked in hospital A&E departments and GP clinics in Singapore.

How quickly can I speak to a doctor?
Usually within 15 minutes, depending on the queue. We try our best to keep to your appointment time.
How much does a teleconsultation cost?
$12 for the consultation, or $25 including delivery of your medication. Medication is charged separately. No GST is charged.
Do I need to download an app?
No. After booking you will receive a link to join the video call on your phone or computer.
What do I need for the call?
A quiet, well-lit place, a phone or computer with a camera, and your NRIC or passport details. Have a list of any medication you take.
Can I get an MC after a teleconsultation?
Yes, if the doctor judges it safe for you to manage your condition at home. If your condition needs an examination or more information, the doctor may ask you to come in for an in-person review.
How long does an online MC usually last?
It depends on your symptoms and the doctor's assessment. Most patients receive 1 to 2 days. Longer MCs may need an in-person assessment.
Can I get my medication delivered?
Yes. Medication is delivered to your door anywhere in Singapore, usually within 4 hours. A surcharge applies for urgent deliveries and for Sentosa or Jurong Island.
Can children have a teleconsultation?
Yes, from 1 year old.
Can I get antibiotics through a teleconsult?
Only when clinically appropriate. Most coughs and sore throats are caused by viruses and do not improve with antibiotics. The doctor uses recognised scoring systems to judge the chance of a bacterial throat infection and prescribes antibiotics only when it is likely.
Can COVID-19 be treated by teleconsult?
Mild COVID-19 in an otherwise healthy adult is well suited to teleconsult: the doctor advises on isolation, symptom relief and MC length. Severe symptoms such as low oxygen or breathlessness, or COVID-19 in a higher-risk patient (aged 60 or over, weakened immune system, pregnant) need an in-person review.
Can I use insurance, CHAS or MediSave for a teleconsult?
Please check with us before booking, as coverage depends on your plan.
Can I get a referral letter to a specialist?
Yes. If the doctor feels you need a specialist, a referral letter can be issued after your teleconsultation.
