Iron is needed to make haemoglobin, which carries oxygen around the body. Low iron is common, especially in women with heavy periods, during pregnancy and in vegetarians, and can leave you tired and short of breath. This formula uses iron glycinate, a gentler form that is less likely to cause constipation or stomach upset, with vitamin C to help absorption.
What’s inside
15 mg iron (as iron glycinate and iron aspartate) and 175 mg vitamin C per capsule.
How to take
1 capsule, 1 to 2 times daily with meals, or as advised by your doctor. Take at least 2 hours apart from calcium, antacids, tea, coffee and thyroid medicine.
Good to know
- Vegetarian capsules; hypoallergenic
- May darken your stools, which is harmless
- Keep out of reach of children: an iron overdose can be very dangerous for young children
- Do not take if you have been told you have high iron levels
Doctor’s note
Tiredness has many causes, so please do not start iron without knowing your levels. A simple blood test can check your haemoglobin and iron stores, and we can advise on the right dose and how long to take it.
